Adidas Forum Mid Hellboy II: The Golden Army (limited edition)To introduce the forthcoming cinema release of Hellboy II: The Golden Army in 2008, Adidas Originals teamed up with Universal Studios to generate special makeups of classic designs.
The Forum Mid is a collaboration of Adidas, Universal Studios and Guillermo Del Toro, the director of the movie. Additionaly Adidas worked with Dark Horse Comics and Mike Mignola, the original comic book artist of Hellboy, on the Stan Smith Mid.
The Forum Mid comes limited to 5000 pairs worldwide and the Stan Smith comes limited to 1000 pairs worldwide. The movie came out in August and was dropped around the same time.
I found this shoe in August 2008 by accident while walking down Orchard Road in Singapore. Passing the Adidas Originals shop, I squeezed my face against the (still) closed glass doors of the shop. It was already around 11 AM, but the shop was still not accessable. Both pairs were presented on a stand, showing the movie's poster and card board props right in the middle of the shop. A wonderful sight. Without knowing whether I should do the purchase , I later that day went home and did my usual check up on the sneakers.
However, I returned the next day and realized that the props that presented the sneakers the other day were gone. I started to have an uncomfortable feeling crawling up my back. The feeling of missing a chance that could have been a fantastic addition to my sneaker collection.
But, the sneaker gods were good with me...the last pair in the shop.....in my size....WTF! No question....
